Our Story

    Gramp's Creek Kennels was born after years of dreaming, planning, and dedication to the love of labs.  Jim and I both bought our first labs before we met.  Jim had a chocolate lab named Jake, and I had a black lab named Kelsey.  When we got married, we decided, when it was time, our next dog would be a yellow lab.  ​

    We surprised our kids in 2017 with our first yellow lab puppy, Daisy.  Daisy's parents had another litter 9 months later, and we brought home Ryder.  In 2020, we had the great fortune of moving to the country to build a home on land given to us by my parents.  The dream of becoming breeders was beginning to take shape.  ​

    We began to search the country, looking for the perfect puppy who would become our first mama.  We found her in Mississippi.  In September of 2021, Milla "Millie" Nilla became the third furry member of our beloved four legged family.  ​

    As we were deciding on a name for our kennel, we wanted a special name to honor our family, who we would not be able to do this business without.  A name that would also reflect a place that the dogs love to run and play.  Some of us call it the "crick", however, I like to call it "Gramp's Creek".  

    Gramp was my Great Grandpa Kohl, and we grew up camping and fishing in the "crick" that runs through his property.  This same creek runs through our timber where the dogs love to swim, retrieve sticks, and play.  We thought "Gramp's Creek Kennels" was the perfect blend of our love of family and our beloved labs.
